It's March and I'm thinking summer--our 2008 summer initiative in adult spirituality.
"Spirituality," you ask? Spirituality is growing more and more to participate in the character, life patterns, passion, and mission of Jesus of Nazareth--the Christ, our Lord. My dream for Grace Church is for there be a constant ferment of this kind of adult spirituality. We know spirituality not just a "summer" thing. Our personal transformation is a grace process, an all-the-time process, 24-7-365. Meanwhile, there are some choices we humans can make to participate in the process.
Beginning after Easter and continuing through Spring I'm offering a series of 8 messages on the theme, "Marks of a Disciple." Come with your ears on, heart open, and spirit thirsting. You have heard some
of this before--but not like this. Then during the summer weeks we will be gathering into small groups throughout the Shoals to learn, share, and pray using the second section of a fabulous book by my colleague Glenn McDonald, The Disciple-Making Church. Group leaders will be meeting with me in April for P.a.L.S. Group training (i.e. "coaching"). By God's grace I am fixed on a vision of Grace Church--a missional church--that moves outward into mission and ministry from a ferment of adult spirituality.
